They were very lucky to have lots of land in their last home and due to this are not sure about the big wide world beyond, they will need someone who can help them learn that everything on walks isn't so scary. Once they know you, they are very sweet and affectionate and will make a wonderful addition to the right home, they just need someone to show them the way. Izzy & Tara
Gender/Age:
Females 1yr
Breed:
Dachshunds
Colour:
Chocolate Dapple
Location:
Edenbridge
Izzy and Tara have come into us due to no longer getting on with one of the other dogs in the home. They are a lovely pair of sisters who can be a little nervous at first. They will need a quiet home with patient and understanding owners who will give them the space and time needed to settle into their new home. They are very affectionate, loving girls who love a cuddle under the blankets and will follow you everywhere!
The girls have been together their whole life so are looking for a loving home together. They enjoy playing with toys and love their food. They are both young, energetic girls so are looking for an active home where they can burn off some energy. The girls have previously lived with calm older teenage children so could potentially do so again. Both are ok with dogs and previously lived with cats.Bruno
Gender/Age:
Male 3yrs
Breed:
Staffie x
Colour:
Tan and white
Location:
New Romney
Bruno has unfortunately been returned to us after being difficult to cope with on walks. Bruno is super reactive to new people and dogs while out on walks which may take some time to train out of him. In the home Bruno is a dream and he loves to play and have lots of belly rubs. With new people coming into the home he will bark at first and can take a bit of time to get to know someone. The ideal home for Bruno would be a quiet home with no kids or other dogs, who can give him the time and training.
Tadpole A.K.A Tad
Gender/Age:
Male 11years
Breed:
Patterdale
Colour:
Black
Location:
New Romney
Meet our newest senior dog Tad! Unfortunately Tad's owner has had to go into care and cannot look after him anymore. Poor Tad doesn't fully understand why he's here but he hasn't let anything get him down! He loves going for his walks and stopping for the occasional cuddle. We've been told by other family members that Tad isn't good with other dogs and cannot live with cats. Due to his age he would not be suitable for a family with young kids.
Bali
Gender/Age:
Male 3yrs
Breed:
Greyhound
Colour:
Black
Location:
Edenbridge
Bali is a bouncy boy who has recently retired from racing. He enjoys a fuss and loves a run around. Due to being an ex racer Bali has never lived in a home environment before so will need a patient owner who can show him what life is like to be a pet. He is looking for a home with a secure garden of his own where he can run around off lead in.
Bali is full of beans and always on the go so would like an active owner who can take him on long walks. Whilst Bali can be very active he can also be very lazy and can be found lounging around in bed with all four feet up in the air. He has recently found his love for treats and toys and loves to throw them around in the air. Bali will need to be muzzled in public due to his high prey drive. He is ok with bigger dogs of his size but cannot be homed with cats, small furries or small fluffy dogs.Flora
Gender/Age:
Female 2yrs
Breed:
Lurcher
Colour:
Cream
Location:
Edenbridge
Flora is a beautiful girl, but she is quite timid. Sadly, this poor girl was found curled up in the middle of the road! Now safe with us she is looking for a nice quiet home with lots of TLC. Flora loves other dogs so would benefit from a friend in the home. If you can offer Flora a loving home please contact our Edenbridge centre.
Locksley
Gender/Age:
Male 5 years
Breed:
Greyhound x staffie
Colour:
Brindle
Location:
New Romney
Locksley came to us through no fault of his own. He is a very well-behaved boy who loves nothing more than having a cuddle or playing fetch! Locksley is a very clever dog who loves to show off all the tricks he has been taught and is good with dogs as long as they don't bark at him too much and has previously been around kids aged 10 +. He cannot live with cats.
Buddy
Gender/Age:
Male 10 years
Breed:
Bichon x JRT
Colour:
White
Location:
New Romney
Buddy is Looking for His Second Best Friend Buddy is my best friend here at the centre, and I would love nothing more than to find him a second best friend This cheeky old terrier knows exactly what he likes. He still enjoys his walks and exploring, and he’d love a secure garden where he can potter around. Because Buddy has a few behavioural quirks sadly Buddy has been returned 5 times, he needs an experienced home with no other pets or children — someone who understands stubborn terriers and can give him the patience and care he deserves.
Could you be Buddy’s second-best friend? Get in touch if you think you can offer him the forever home he’s been waiting for.Rocco
Gender/Age:
Male 2 years 5 months
Breed:
Doberman X
Colour:
Black & tan
Location:
New Romney
Our lovable goofball Rocco is dreaming of people with hearts as big as he is. Weighing over 40kg, there is a lot of Rocco to love, but due to this he will be needing a home with people who are used to bigger dogs. He has lots of energy, and loves nothing more than exploring on long walks, or bouncing around with a ball. He is sociable with other dogs, however doesn't have the best manners and other dogs struggle to understand him, he would benefit from further socialising to help him with this. Rocco is a smart boy, and under all his goofiness he knows sit, paw, down and wait, being only young he would love people who can teach him more. He does have a very high prey drive so would not be able to live with any small animals, he also has springs for back legs and so will need a very secure garden to play in. If you are ready for a dog who comes with oodles of fun and love, please contact us for more information, or pop in to meet him.
Sally
Gender/Age:
Female, 2-3 years
Breed:
Lurcher x
Colour:
Tan
Location:
New Romney
Sally is a firm favourite here with our staff and volunteers, she leaps from her kennel eager to have a cuddle every time she sees you. She does take a little while to trust and is wary of those she doesn't yet know so will need people who can give her the time and patience she needs. She loves going for walks but isn't keen on other dogs so would like to live somewhere where she can go for quiet, countryside walks where she can enjoy the peace and quiet. In the right home we hope she will find her confidence around new people and other dogs and in time be able to worry less about seeing them out and about, she just needs the right person to help her. If you have space in your heart for our Sally, please pop in or give us a call.
Oscar
Gender/Age:
Male 11 years
Breed:
Shih Tzu
Colour:
Cream and white
Location:
New Romney
Oscar originally came to us from the Welsh pound with no history. Unfortunately Oscar has been returned to us due to unpredictable behaviour in the home. Oscar can be an incredibly stubborn dog who isn't a fan of being told what to do. Oscar absolutely hates the groomers so will need to be muzzled when going to them or the vets. Oscar needs to be the only pet, in an adult only home with an owner who understands his stubborness and will be willing to work with him on it.
Stella
Gender/Age:
Female 2-3 years
Breed:
Lurcher x
Colour:
Brown
Location:
New Romney
Stella is one of our quirkier girls, apparently, she doesn't have the spark people are looking for, and as such still hasn't had anyone interested in her. When she knows you, she is an affectionate girl who will give paw and hold on to your hand, she enjoys her walks and walks nicely on the lead. She isn't keen on all dogs but does show an interest in similar breeds and has been known to have a little play with a fellow sighthound. Being a stray, we don't know what Stella has been through, but it has taught her to be wary of new people, she takes a while to trust and would like a quiet home with patient people due to this, she would prefer not to live with any children. If you think you could be the one to see what others don't, please pop in to meet our Stella, or phone for more information.
Maple
Gender/Age:
Female 2yrs
Breed:
Staffie Cross
Colour:
Brindle
Location:
Edenbridge
Maple has sadly came back to Last Chance for rehoming as the previous owners did not feel they could cope or deal with Maple’s needs. Maple is a large girl with a lot of energy and strength behind her. She loves to play with her toys however this can cause her to get overstimulated and starts to become rough with her people instead of her toys. So would need a confident owner who will be able to calm her down when she gets herself in this state of mind. Maple does walk well on the lead but she can be strong especially as she does have a high prey drive and will chase anything that moves including rubbish blowing in the wind so would need a strong owner and someone to further training to help her overcome this or to learn how to ignore all distractions on walk. Maple is a very sweet natured girl who is willing to learn and loves having a cuddle. Maple thinks she is a lap dog and loves sitting on your lap having her ears rubbed. She develops strong bonds with her people but especially to females in the home. Maple is good with other dogs depending on how they react and present themself to her first. Maple does have temper tantrums so will need an owner to help with this. Maple is looking to be the only pet in a home with especially no cats visiting from neighbouring gardens. Maple must go to an adult only home. Maple would benefit from a strong active home who has the time and patience to continue her training. Second photo is Maple with her mate Jackson.
Benny
Gender/Age:
Male 1years
Breed:
Staffie x (medium-large)
Colour:
Tan and white
Location:
New Romney
Benny is 1 year old, a young and lively Staffy cross who’s bursting with love and personality. Benny came to us through no fault of his own, after changes in his previous home, and now he’s searching for a special someone to give him the forever home he truly deserves. Kennel life can be a bit frustrating for Benny what he really dreams of is a place where he can relax, learn, and feel secure. He’s still discovering the world around him, so he’s looking for a confident and patient owner who can guide him with gentle leadership, help him continue his training, and give him the structure he needs to thrive. Benny is strong and playful, and sometimes he gets a little overexcited on walks, including a cheeky habit of biting the lead. With ongoing training and regular socialising, he’ll pick up good manners in no time he’s eager to please and responds so well to positive attention. Benny has lived happily with older children 16+ but he can’t live with cats and will need to be the only dog in the home so he can have all your love and attention to himself. Please contact our New Romney centre
Penny
Gender/Age:
Female 6-8yrs
Breed:
Lurcher
Colour:
Black
Location:
Edenbridge
Penny is still finding her feet here in our kennels but is a very happy girl. She is always wagging her tail and wants to say hello to everyone. She would need slow socialising with other dogs and must be the only pet in the home. Penny came in as a stray from the pound so no history is known prior so no young children. She can be energetic but walks nicely on the lead so would need an active owner.
Clyde
Gender/Age:
Male 4 years
Breed:
Greyhound
Colour:
Black
Location:
Edenbridge
Clyde is a big, bouncy boy who is full of beans and always on the go! He enjoys a treat and a fuss and loves to run around and chase tennis balls. He came into us after retiring from greyhound racing and is now looking for his loving forever home. Due to being an ex - racer, Clyde hasn't ever lived in a home environment before so will need a patient and understanding owner to show him what life is like being a pet. Clyde is looking for a home with a secure garden of his own where he can run around off lead freely in. Due to Clyde's high prey drive he will need to be muzzled in public. Clyde needs more socialising with other dogs as he unfortunately ahs no manners when meeting them. Due to his history Clyde is not to be introduced to small animals.
Dancer
Gender/Age:
Male 8yrs
Breed:
Collie x
Colour:
Black and Tan
Location:
Edenbridge
Dancer came to us from the Welsh pound so we don’t have much history on him. Due to his breed and behaviour, we believe that he was used as a farm dog. When Dancer knows you he can be very affectionate and jump up for cuddles. Dancer loves to cuddle up to you on the sofa and gently nibble your fingers while getting belly rubs, if you stop stroking him he will paw at you for your attention. Dancer loves to be around you and will follow you everywhere so will need a home where he won’t be left alone for too long. One of Dancers favourite things to do is watch you make dinner in the kitchen in hopes that he could have some too! (He especially loves cheese) Dancer is an active boy who loves his long walks and exploring new places so will need an active owner and a garden of his own to run around and play freely off lead in. Dancer can get protective of his owner when on lead and can nip if anyone approaches him, because of this you will have to keep a distance from others and their dogs and walk in less populated areas. Dancer loves to play ball with you and when alone he loves to play with soft crinkly toys, you will often see him chucking them around in the air and tossing them side to side. Dancer is looking for an adult only home in a rural setting as he is noise phobic so would like a quiet home. He must be the only pet in the home. Dancer will need an understanding and patient owner as he is a very anxious boy who takes time to trust others. Dancer will need multiple visits to our centre with any potential owner to help build a bond. In time, Dancer would make a very affectionate and loyal companion. Please do consider taking Dancer home.
Buddy
Gender/Age:
Male 6 yrs
Breed:
Bulldog x Staffie
Colour:
Fawn
Location:
Edenbridge
Buddy was originally here as a puppy. He went to a new home for a year where he was not walked regularly and barely taken out the house. Therefore Buddy did not get the socializing he needed and developed fear aggression to any new person who entered his and his owners house, seeing them as a threat. So Buddy needs a strict one to one home with someone who has no visitors. Once Buddy knows you he is very affectionate and will bark at you for attention to lie all over you or to try the food you are eating. Buddy loves his food and treats and as he is a very slow walker and sometimes refusing to walk at all he needs a strict diet to help him maintain a healthy weight. Buddy loves his toys and will often throw them around to himself in excitement. His favourite toy is a dog friendly stick, although we have tried to give him more exciting toys he always goes back to his stick. Buddy can not live with any other dogs, cats or small animals.
Cobi
Gender/Age:
male, 12 years
Breed:
Jack Russell
Colour:
tan and white
Location:
Edenbridge
Cobi has had a troubled life. He originally came to us from the Welsh pound and was soon adopted by a couple who had him for three years. During this time, the man would force Cobi to do things that he did not want to do. He would force Cobi to wear a too-small harness and go out in heavy rain and thunderstorms. Cobi is scared of loud bangs, so this would have absolutely terrified poor Cobi. Because of this, Cobi started lashing out and became fear aggressive towards the couple, which ended up with him being returned for 'bad behaviour.' Cobi has had two homes since, and due to his original owner's behaviour, understandably, he now prefers a female owner. He will become attached to one person and will lash out at anyone else, so he is also better suited to a one-person home. Cobi loves to play fetch with tennis balls and will play for hours. He is very clever and is good at working out enrichment toys; he specifically loves liver treats and cut-up dog sausages put in a snuffle mat, where he can spend ages working out how to get every crumb out. He can be very affectionate on his own terms, but he will warn you when he has had enough. Due to having developed behavioural issues, Cobi has a bite history, so he will need an experienced and understanding owner. Cobi can be fearful of loud noises, specifically thunderstorms and fireworks. He will become very stressed, pant, and try to hide behind his bed and under blankets. He is best left with a loud radio to drown out the noise and to be left alone, as he becomes fearful and lashes out, probably remembering being forced to go out in them in his first home. Cobi, in the right home, would make a very loyal, loving pet. Please ask staff for more information about Cobi.
Buster
Gender/Age:
Male 7yrs
Breed:
Bulldog
Colour:
Tan and white
Location:
Edenbridge
Buster is a typically stubborn bulldog. He loves nothing more his big comfy bed, getting under the covers and lots of treats. He can be reluctant to walk in an any adverse weather but likes a stroll at his own pace wherever he wants to go. Buster is a nosey dog and loves coming through our office to sniff new smells and helping to feed the office fish. He will often steal staffs leads and carry his bowl to his bed where Buster can become protective over this and any long-lasting treats. He loves a butt scratch and will roll in long grass for you to scratch his tummy and can be quite affectionate on his own terms. Buster is not short on character but will need an experienced owner. He must go to a male one to one home as Buster loves men. He does not like people coming in to his home so will need to be kept separate. Buster needs a very understanding owner who will respect his boundaries and give him the time and space he needs. Please contact Edenbridge for more information.
Mary
Gender/Age:
Female 4yrs
Breed:
Pocket Bully
Colour:
Fawn
Location:
Edenbridge
Mary is a lovely girl who needs an understanding owner. If she loves you, she adores you, and you become her world. She lives with one of the staff members a few times a week, and she loves nothing more than having a cuddle on the sofa and snuggling up in bed during the night. Mary is also obsessed with her food and will give a little song to try and get what she wants. However, while Mary loves you, this means she gets very protective of her people and can become aggressive when strangers approach. So for this, she needs a patient and understanding owner. She now knows 'sit' and 'paw'; however, she gets overexcited for the treat, so she jumps up to give you both paws instead. She can be a tiny bulldozer and charges about when she is having her zoomies. Mary would make a fantastic companion to the right owner and would make you laugh on a daily basis. We do not think that Mary has had any training or socializing, so this does mean she needs to be muzzled and mixed with other dogs slowly. Adult Home only! Dogs – No Cats – No
Jake
Gender/Age:
Male, 8 years
Breed:
Beagle
Colour:
Tri Colour
Location:
Edenbridge
Sadly Jake has recently become diabetic which has caused him to lose his vision, so we are desperately looking for a foster or forever home before he loses his sight completely. He will need insulin injections twice a day but he is such a good boy and waits patiently as he knows a tasty carrot is coming. Jake is one of our long termers who is very misunderstood, he has unfortunately come from a traumatic past which has caused him to bite when feeling threatened. Once Jake trusts you and knows you he is a very affectionate boy and loves a cuddle on the sofa. He is very good with other dogs socially but has to be only dog at home due to resource guarding. Jake is obsessed with food and will do anything to get hold of it so being a typical beagle he will try his very best to get what he wants. Looking for an adult home only who understands Jake's needs.
Bill
Gender/Age:
Male 5yrs
Breed:
Frenchie
Colour:
Black & tan
Location:
Edenbridge
Bill is a grumpy chap at times who is set in his own ways. Despite only being 5 he acts like an old boy refusing to go on walks and wanting to sit all day in the sun. Bill absolutely loves his long red dog toy and occasionally you will walk past his kennel and see him just holding it in his mouth showing it off to the world. As cute and friendly as Bill looks, he is not a cuddly dog and couldn’t think of anything worse than being a lap dog. He would much rather get comfy and snug on the bed on the floor. He loves his own space and feels safe having an area that is just for him. Bill would love a home with someone who is happy to have him plod about in their garden and occasionally come for some attention. When Bill does want a fuss, his all time favourite is a butt scratch. He goes mad for this and loses his mind when he gets this. He will even try scratch his back on cars, bushes etc. Bill would need an adult only home ideally with 1 person or a couple who can respect his space with absolutely no children visiting. Bill is not a fan of any other animals he will avoid them when out but is not keen on having them approach him. Dogs - No Cats - No ADULT HOME
Roo
Gender/Age:
Female 18months
Breed:
German Shepherd
Colour:
Black & tan
Location:
New Romney
Roo is an excitable young girl who has obviously been loved at some point. She is incredibly smart and knows several tricks such as sit, down and paw. She is full of life and loves nothing better than chasing a ball and playing in water. She can get a little over excited and mouthy at times, but can be distracted with a ball, she will need lots of exercise and training to help with this. She is not keen on other dogs and will bark at those she sees on walks; she will need confidence building and socialising to help with this. Her ideal home would be an active, adult only home with no other pets and lots of tennis balls.
Penelope
Gender/Age:
Female 2yr
Breed:
English Bull Terrier
Colour:
Tri Colour
Location:
Edenbridge
Penelope sadly came to Last Chance as an unclaimed stray. Smelly and covered in fleas Penelope had obviously come from an unloved place. We believed whoever had her before coming to Last Chance had tried to use her as a guard dog/ status dog due to her breed however upon spending time with Penelope it’s clear to see she would of been useless at this as she is a happy friendly girl who loves everyone she meets which could of resulting in her being thrown out like rubbish. Penelope has had little to no socialisation and training. She has absolutely no manners and thinks the words no, wait, stay mean yes let’s go play! Penelope loves being around people and will get frustrated when she knows you are about to leave her however a few games of fetch has her calmed down. Penelope absolutely loves toys and loves finding new ones to take back to her with her. Sadly due to having no socialising Penelope is not good with other dogs we are hopeful that in time with the correct training she would eventually play well with dogs as we think she would enjoy this however we can not say for certain as we don’t know what happened during her puppy years. Penelope would love an active adult only home with no children, dogs or cats. As she has so much energy to burn and would need someone who can put in the time for her.
Ian
Gender/Age:
Male 4yrs
Breed:
Jack Russell Terrier x
Colour:
Black & tan
Location:
New Romney
Ian may look like a small terrier but oh boy can he bounce!!! He has very nearly cleared a 5ft fence, so the garden needs to be super secure! Ian loves making new doggie friends and has a few that he loves walking with on lead. Unfortunately Ian is not the best at making friends with people, he feels more comfortable around women and will need maybe a meet or two before he's jumping up for cuddles. Men are a different story and he is so scared of men so we are looking for an female adult only home with limited visiting men.
Simon
Gender/Age:
Male 6yrs
Breed:
Sharpei
Colour:
Tan
Location:
Edenbridge
Don’t let Simon’s grumpy face fool you he is a very happy boy who loves nothing more than investigating smells on his walks by smooshing his chops into everything. He is housetrained and loves a big comfy bed to lounge in the sun in or a bed by the window so he can be nosy all day. He can be vocal with some dogs so would benefit from gentle socialising in time and would need to be the only pet in the home. He is not good with cats or any other small animals. He will randomly play with toys and will chase a football a few times before getting distracted by a smell that he has to wee on. Simon does have some of the Sharpei quirks and can be an independent dog at times, wanting affection on his own terms, so would need an owner to understand the characteristics of his breed. Adult only home.
Pinky & Perky (aka The Pigs)!
Gender/Age:
Females 8 yrs
Breed:
Frenchies
Colour:
Dark Brindle
Location:
Edenbridge
Pinky and perky or the pigs as we all call them are not short of character! They will make you laugh everyday with their cheekiness and toddler like personality. They both love to play and would choose toys over treats. Perky loves to find the biggest cuddly toy she can and carry it around with her before ripping it up, Pinky loves all kinds of balls and will take herself off to her bed to chew on it. They both love attention and will come and sit on you for affection, perky will sit facing you breathing in your face whilst pinky will roll over for a belly scratch. Unfortunately due to not being socialised properly they take some time to get to know new people. Pinky more so than perky but once you’re in their club they are your best friends and will allow their owners to do anything with them. They can be vocal with dogs so would need to be the only dogs in the home. They cannot be homed with children, cats or any small animals. Pinky and perky are more like twins than sisters always doing things together and often copying each others movements exactly so will not be separated and have to be homed together.
Olivia
Gender/Age:
Female, 4yrs
Breed:
Frenchie
Colour:
Seal & Tan
Location:
New Romney
Olivia is truly one of a kind, she will be an amazing companion in the right home, with experienced people who understand what makes her tick. She is a funny, affectionate girl who loves a bum scratch and chasing leaves, on her terms, she loves a cuddle and having a fuss made of her. She is sociable with most dogs and has had many dog friends here at Last Chance, she would however be best as the only pet in her new home. Being a stray, we don't know what Olivia has been through, but whatever it is, has led her to be very protective of 'her' things. She is known to guard her toys and food bowl, along with seemingly random items, due to this she is needing a very experienced home where she can work on this behaviour. Here at Last Chance she loves to go on long walks with our volunteers and enjoys running through the long grass, she would love an active home where she can show you just how fast a frenchie can be. If you think you have the experience and love Olivia needs, please contact us for more information.
Rolo
Gender/Age:
Male 4yrs
Breed:
Terrier
Colour:
Black & tan
Location:
Edenbridge
Rolo is a very busy boy. He loves to chase anything that moves and will do this all day. He loves his walks and stops to smell everything. He loves to get snug in his bed and he buries himself under his covers when he sleeps. Rolo is very affectionate and tries to jump on your lap for a cuddle. He loves his toys and will find his favourite and run about with it in his mouth. He is a very active boy so needs lots of exercise.
Rolo has a very high prey drive and try to chase everything. He can get himself very worked up over this and needs a very understanding owner to help him calm down. Rolo is also very reactive to other dogs and can redirect so will need an experienced owner. We think that Rolo would love lots of secure land where he can safely explore and with a very patient and understanding owner who can appreciate Rolo’s needs and give him all the love he deserves. He must be the only pet in an adult only home.Kimi
Gender/Age:
Female 8yrs
Breed:
Rottweiler
Colour:
Black & tan
Location:
Edenbridge
Kimi sadly came to us severely overweight and was nicknamed the barrel. She was struggling to walk and after further investigation it was discovered, she unfortunately has luxating patella in both her knees. Due to Kimi being energetic she jumps around in her kennel, bouncing off the walls, making the recovery post-surgery not possible, so she is kept comfortable with medication and is doing well on it. Since finding her love for walks and balls she has managed to shed the weight but is still in need of shedding those last few kilos. Kimi is absolutely obsessed with her toys and mainly balls. You will always find her with a ball in her mouth, whether she is out on a walk or laying in her bed she will have a toy. She treats it as a comfort blanket and wherever she goes, a toy will go with her. Kimi is great with the people she knows however it can take time to build up trust with her. Kimi does enjoy a fuss and some attention but only on her terms and only for a short period. Kimi is happiest being near and with you rather than on you like a lap dog. Kimi likes her own space, but likes to know you are around, so would prefer to sit in her bed surrounded by her toys with you in her eyesight so she knows she is not alone. One of Kimi’s rare features which we all love, if she allows you to sneak a glance is her ‘pig skin pads on her paws. Kimi is looking for an experienced adult only home with no other pets. Kimi needs an owner who will give her the time and patience she will need to earn your trust and to settle in to a home environment.

Mitch
Gender/Age:
Male 2-3yrs
Breed:
Pocket bully
Colour:
Tri Colour
Location:
Edenbridge
Mitch came to us from the Welsh pound due to a decline in his owners health. Mitch was a very timid boy at first and would grumble whilst running away from you in his kennel due to fear. He has now come out of his shell and he has found his love in toys. His favourite at the minute are balls! He will play all day, not that the toys last that long. Mitch has been fearful of other dogs whilst being with us so will need very slow socialising with other dogs and to be the only pet in the home for now. As Mitch can be fearful of the world we are suggesting an adult only home to help him navigate a new home life, with patient and understanding owners who can give him space and time to settle without pushing his boundaries. Mitch loves his walks but can be stubborn at times wanting to get back so he can continue playing.
Gunner
Gender/Age:
Male 7yrs
Breed:
Spaniel
Colour:
Chocolate
Location:
Edenbridge
Gunner is a hyper energetic boy who is always on the move, he has bundles of energy and would love an active home with someone who can take him exploring for miles often, no matter how muddy and wet it is. Gunner is a typical Spaniel who loves to play ball and can play for hours. He will always find a ball when on walks and when playing fetch he will always bring the ball to your feet. Even though Gunner is a happy chap and is always wagging his tail, he is not keen on being over-fussed and likes his own space.
Outside the home Gunner is a little poser and will pose for a photo and will even perform some of his tricks for a treat. However, in the home Gunner does not have manners and will jump and sleep on the sofa and bed if he wants too. The best way to overcome this is to bribe him with a treat to get him off any other way to remove him or to get him to do something he doesn’t want to do results in him becoming vocal and stressed. Gunner can be stubborn and determined to do what he wants when he is in a certain mood, and this is something that would need to be worked on. When Gunner is on a wind down in the evenings, he will happily sit with you for a cuddle and stroke but not to be overfussed. As you can tell by Gunner’s mop head of hair, he is not a fan of the groomers or being groomed. Gunner had a traumatic experience with this in the past so now he is very fearful and suspicious when something is happening to his fur. Everything must be done in stages and for short periods of time to work up building the trust to allow him to have a full proper groom. In Summer, we usually would shave him down so it’s all done and stress free for him, then his fur can grow back nice and fluffy ready for winter. Gunner loves the sound of his own voice and will be vocal for attention, food and even for walks. Sadly, Gunner is not good with other animals especially Cats so would be looking for a pet free home. Gunner is looking for an active experienced adult only home, with someone who has the time and patience to put in the training Gunner needs in the home.Cleo
Gender/Age:
Female 9 years old
Breed:
Husky

Cleo came into us as her owners have no time for her anymore. Cleo is finding being back in the kennel environment hard, but is adjusting slowly. Cleo is a typical husky and loves to be outside no matter what the weather. She loves to play with new toys especially squeaky stuffed toys and rope toys. Cleo is very reactive to other dogs and is advised to walk with a muzzle, which she wears well, and must go to a pet free house with an owner who is understanding of this behaviour. Experience with the breed is preferred as Cleo can be husky vocal when she wants something. Cleo needs a very understanding and patient adult only home, with owners who have the knowledge and time to spend helping her with her difficulties.

Hello I am Tito. I am a very loving dog, with the people I trust. I arrived at the New Romney rescue many years ago from a Welsh pound, no one knows my early previous history, but from my behaviour and the marks on my body, my friends at Last chance know I wasn't treated very nicely. Sometimes I can get anxious and see hands as a threat, I also struggle being out of my routine. One staff member says she is blessed to have my trust, I snuggle up for a fuss, offer her cuddles, demand a tummy tickle (poking my feet in her face) and enjoy her company on walks and in my kennel, but I admit, I do get jealous if anyone else is around us - even when I like the other people! I do get nervous around new people and situations, which sometimes means I can be a bit snappy. I am told I'm handsome and also super fit for my age, I can jump onto the picnic tables in our grounds in just one leap. I will run around the grounds chasing the wild rabbits and squirrels, but birds are my real nemesis, if only I could climb trees!!! I also love sunbathing on the grass and playing catch with my big ball, but I prefer the right company over treats and games and don't like to be left on my own. I am definitely not keen on walks in the rain or the cold! Due to my past experiences (and from the information my friends at Last Chance have gathered on my previous adoptions), I'm told I need a very special and experienced, single, adult only home, with no other animals, I may prefer a female human. Once I form a strong bond with you and feel safe, I will become your best friend, but this also means I will not want to share you, I have waited so long for you I want you all to myself!! I need a quiet home, with a secure garden, very rare visitors and definitely no children visiting! It would be best if you have a very structured routine that I could fit in to. I will need multiple visits from any potential adopter, so we can get used to each other. If you think I could be your best friend please speak to the staff at New Romney Tel: 01797 366620, or pop in to the centre during our opening times: Wed-Sun 11am-3pm. I have been at New Romney for a very long time, please consider me. Love Tito x

Danny Boy
Gender/Age:
Male 10years
Breed:
Scottie/Carne X
Colour:
Black
Location:
Edenbridge
Danny Boy is a lovely boy once he knows you, he has to have a female owner on a one to one basis, this is all due to him being mistreated. Unfortunately this poor sad little lad, through no fault of his own was kicked and abused in his previous home, living day after day in constant fear, hiding and cowling away from his owner.
This is a very sad case due Danny Boy’s previous male owner who was sadly suffering with-Alzheimers and didn’t realise what he was inflicting on his once best friend. Please therefore understand why our darling sad, confused, untrustworthy, frightened little Danny boy can be unpredictable towards men, and is quite nervous when first meeting you and needs to settle in slowly. Is there someone out there that can reassure him, give back the love he once knew, to enable him to trust that once again, like the song above will there ever be any pipes a calling for our Danny Boy?????? Or does he have to continue to hope, dream, wish for someone to call his name. Look into those eyes, see his pain, reach out to him, give him a chance, give him time to trust you, give him back his life, give him the confidence, patience and love that he needs, LOVE that we all need. I know the right person is out there, make our Danny Boy’s wish come true, a loving home this Christmas, that day and every other one there on, FIND HIM A HOME PLEASE. MORE INFORMATION YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT OUR BOY For those of you that feel you can give our little lad the right home, you would have to visit him on a regular basis, over weeks, even maybe months for him to get used to you and to start to trust you, so this is something that must be considered. Danny is ideally looking for a quiet home, with a female that does not have regular visitors, with NO CHILDREN, MEN OR OTHER PETS. Danny needs to be his on boss, not be confronted by things or over stimulated or trying to teach him. Danny I would say at the moment, but who knows in the future, is currently not a companion pet, and would not understand or want loads of cuddles or fuss. Like I say he might be the most adorable companion, but this would take time. Consideration must be taken when out with Danny, due to his fear of people, especially men, you would need to keep a distance from people and dogs whilst walking our Danny boy. For more information on Danny please call our staff at the Edenbridge rescue 01732 865530Page last updated: 14 November 2025 16:58:42
