Leo

Leo has sadly not had the best start to life and came into us covered in fleas. He has sadly now been returned to us due to showing traits of resource guarding in the home. Because of this, Leo will need to go to an experienced adult only home with no visiting children. Leo will need a patient and understanding owner who will respect his boundaries and not push him too far. Leo is a very nervous boy who will need time to settle into his new home and trust his owner.

Leo is a lovely boy who loves his long walks and playing with his toys. He would like a home with a secure garden of his own where he can run around off lead in and play with his toys. He will need gentle socialising with other dogs and people and some basic training. When being stroked, Leo can get quite excited and start to mouth. This is all puppy mouthing and can be trained out of him.

Ted

Gender/Age: Male, 3yrs

Ted came into us recently as he has retired from Greyhound racing and is looking for his forever home. He loves going for walks and gets so excited he looses control of his tail and just can't stop wagging! He loves meeting new people and has previously lived with dogs. He is a lovely boy who is looking to enjoy his retirement with lots of walks, cuddles and snacks. If you feel you can give Ted a lovely home then please pop into our New Romney branch, we're open Weds-Sun between 11am and 3pm.

Simon

Gender/Age: Male 4 years
Breed: Pointer x Cocker Spaniel

Simon is an excitable and lovely boy who can't wait to find a new home. He has lots of energy and loves nothing better than charging around, following whatever scents his nose finds. He has a few dog friends here at Last Chance, but would benefit from further socialising as he can get over excited. He loves water and insists on taking a dip in the pool following his walks with our volunteers. He is incredibly smart and knows lots of tricks which he would be keen to show off to anyone wanting to meet him. He isn't keen on being disturbed when sleeping and would prefer a home without young children because of this. On walks his enthusiasm takes over and he can be very strong on the lead when he wants to be, he would need someone physically strong enough to handle him, while he learns that he doesn't need to pull. Dolly

Meet Dolly! She has come to us recently as she was a bit of a handful in the home. She is a young girl who will need a strong owner who will take her to training classes to work on her manners. She is a very sweet girl and has lived with small children but due to her size and playfulness we don't want her to be rehomed with young children who could be knocked over. She has never lived with cats or dogs before.

Gabby

Gender/Age: Female 4yrs
Breed: Greyhound
Colour: Brindle

Gabby is lovely girl who can be a little nervous at first. She is an ex racer so has never lived in a home environment before so would love a retirement home with a comfy bed or sofa for her to lounge around in. Gabby loves her walks and loves to lay outside and watch the world go by. She enjoys a gentle fuss and will lean into you for a cuddle. Gabby is starting to show some interest in some of her toys and loves a run around so will need a home with a secure garden of her own where she can run around freely off lead in. Due to Gabby being an ex racer she cannot be homed with cats, small fluffy dogs or small furries. She is ok with dogs of her size. Gabby would need to be muzzled in public due to her high prey drive. Gabby will need a patient and understanding owner who will give her the love and time she needs to settle and show her what it is like to be a pet. Shadow

Our wonderful Shadow came to us from the Welsh pound at approximately 9 months old. We have no history but learned quickly she was very fearful of the world! During her time here, we found Shadow to be extremely loyal, super intelligent and a big massive goof! She loves the water, climbing (hikes would be a dream for Shadow) and taking up all of the room on the bed. We had Shadow live with a staff member and learnt that she is very good in a home environment, it took some time but she is not destructive and will snooze the day away until someone is home. Shadow gets along with most dogs so could definitely live with another dog. Shadow can NOT live with cats or small furries as she has a high prey drive. Preferably a quiet household as Shadow needs time to learn to trust people before she can fully relax and be herself - she us always on guard when she meets new people.. A little like me! No Children and training is essential! For any more information do NOT hesitate to contact. Shadow will make the best companion.

Samson

Samson came in with his brother Magnus. He is a strong, active boy who is looking for an owner who can match this energy. He will need some training and cannot live with cats or small animals. Samson can be either rehomed by himself but it would be great if he could go with his brother Magnus.

Buddy

Gender/Age: Male 6 yrs
Breed: Bulldog x Staffie
Colour: Fawn

Buddy was originally here as a puppy. He went to a new home for a year where he was not walked regularly and barely taken out the house. Therefore Buddy did not get the socializing he needed and developed fear aggression to any new person who entered his and his owners house, seeing them as a threat. So Buddy needs a strict one to one home with someone who has no visitors. Once Buddy knows you he is very affectionate and will bark at you for attention to lie all over you or to try the food you are eating. Buddy loves his food and treats and as he is a very slow walker and sometimes refusing to walk at all he needs a strict diet to help him maintain a healthy weight. Buddy loves his toys and will often throw them around to himself in excitement. His favourite toy is a dog friendly stick, although we have tried to give him more exciting toys he always goes back to his stick. Buddy can not live with any other dogs, cats or small animals.

Stella

Gender/Age: Female 2-3 years
Breed: Lurcher x
Colour: Brown

Stella has been with us for a little while now with no applications. While she is nervous to begin with, she comes out of her shell when she can show off just how fast she can run. Unfortunately she has not had the best start in life which has led to her being very nervous of new people, especially men, she is needing a very understanding, and patient home, with people who will teach her that people can be trusted. She can be ok with some dogs, however dislikes others, we believe she would be best suited to a home as the only pet where she can be further socialised around other animals. Due to her nerves she would not be able to live with children. Buddy

This cheeky old boy knows his own mind, he is looking for a very experienced home with no other pets or children. Despite his years he loves his walks and enjoys exploring, he would love a home with a secure garden for him to potter round. Buddy has several behavioural issues which have resulted in him being returned multiple times, he will need a home experienced with troubled, stubborn terriers, if you think you could offer Buddy the home he needs, please contact us to discuss further.

Cobi

Cobi has had a troubled life. He originally came to us from the Welsh pound and was soon adopted by a couple who had him for three years. During this time, the man would force Cobi to do things that he did not want to do. He would force Cobi to wear a too-small harness and go out in heavy rain and thunderstorms. Cobi is scared of loud bangs, so this would have absolutely terrified poor Cobi. Because of this, Cobi started lashing out and became fear aggressive towards the couple, which ended up with him being returned for 'bad behaviour.' Cobi has had two homes since, and due to his original owner's behaviour, understandably, he now prefers a female owner. He will become attached to one person and will lash out at anyone else, so he is also better suited to a one-person home. Cobi loves to play fetch with tennis balls and will play for hours. He is very clever and is good at working out enrichment toys; he specifically loves liver treats and cut-up dog sausages put in a snuffle mat, where he can spend ages working out how to get every crumb out. He can be very affectionate on his own terms, but he will warn you when he has had enough. Due to having developed behavioural issues, Cobi has a bite history, so he will need an experienced and understanding owner. Cobi can be fearful of loud noises, specifically thunderstorms and fireworks. He will become very stressed, pant, and try to hide behind his bed and under blankets. He is best left with a loud radio to drown out the noise and to be left alone, as he becomes fearful and lashes out, probably remembering being forced to go out in them in his first home. Cobi, in the right home, would make a very loyal, loving pet. Please ask staff for more information about Cobi.

Rocco 2

Rocco 2 is a huge boy with a massive heart. He originally came from the Welsh pound with no history so he cannot be rehomed with kids. He was adopted and received a lot of training in his new home however it didn't work out for him as he has a high prey drive. Rocco will need a nice secure garden with a high fence and cannot live with cats or small animals. He did previously live with another dog who he can play with.

Mary

Gender/Age: Female 4yrs
Breed: Pocket Bully
Colour: Fawn
Location: Edenbridge

Mary is a lovely girl who needs an understanding owner. If she loves you, she adores you, and you become her world. She lives with one of the staff members a few times a week, and she loves nothing more than having a cuddle on the sofa and snuggling up in bed during the night. Mary is also obsessed with her food and will give a little song to try and get what she wants. However, while Mary loves you, this means she gets very protective of her people and can become aggressive when strangers approach. So for this, she needs a patient and understanding owner. She now knows 'sit' and 'paw'; however, she gets overexcited for the treat, so she jumps up to give you both paws instead. She can be a tiny bulldozer and charges about when she is having her zoomies. Mary would make a fantastic companion to the right owner and would make you laugh on a daily basis. We do not think that Mary has had any training or socializing, so this does mean she needs to be muzzled and mixed with other dogs slowly. Adult Home only! Dogs – No Cats – No

Maple

Maple has sadly came back to Last Chance for rehoming as the previous owners did not feel they could cope or deal with Maple’s needs. Maple is a large girl with a lot of energy and strength behind her. She loves to play with her toys however this can cause her to get overstimulated and starts to become rough with her people instead of her toys. So would need a confident owner who will be able to calm her down when she gets herself in this state of mind. Maple does walk well on the lead but she can be strong especially as she does have a high prey drive and will chase anything that moves including rubbish blowing in the wind so would need a strong owner and someone to further training to help her overcome this or to learn how to ignore all distractions on walk. Maple is a very sweet natured girl who is willing to learn and loves having a cuddle. Maple thinks she is a lap dog and loves sitting on your lap having her ears rubbed. She develops strong bonds with her people but especially to females in the home. Maple is good with other dogs depending on how they react and present themself to her first. Maple does have temper tantrums so will need an owner to help with this. Maple is looking to be the only pet in a home with especially no cats visiting from neighbouring gardens. Maple must go to an adult only home. Maple would benefit from a strong active home who has the time and patience to continue her training

Ralph

Gender/Age: Male 8yrs

Ralph is a loving and loyal boy who will follow you everywhere! He absolutely loves his squeaky toys and playing with balls—he’ll toss them around and pounce on them with excitement. Ralph loves affection on his terms and he’ll come and sit on your lap and be involved in whatever you’re doing. His happiest moments are when he’s curled up next to you sleeping. Ralph is a big baby at heart. He loves his walks and then settling down for a nap on the sofa. Originally rescued as a 16-week-old street puppy from Cyprus, Ralph has developed trust issues with new people. He can be quite vocal when meeting strangers and will snap if they get too close too soon. Ralph’s ideal home would be a quiet household with patient, understanding owners who can take the time to earn his trust and understand his little quirks.He does not do well with visitors, so a home with minimal guests would be best. Ralph would love to be in a home where he can enjoy his twilight years. Adult home only/no visiting children. No other pets. Please contact us for more information

Penelope

Penelope sadly came to Last Chance as an unclaimed stray. Smelly and covered in fleas Penelope had obviously come from an unloved place. We believed whoever had her before coming to Last Chance had tried to use her as a guard dog/ status dog due to her breed however upon spending time with Penelope it’s clear to see she would of been useless at this as she is a happy friendly girl who loves everyone she meets which could of resulting in her being thrown out like rubbish. Penelope has had little to no socialisation and training. She has absolutely no manners and thinks the words no, wait, stay mean yes let’s go play! Penelope loves being around people and will get frustrated when she knows you are about to leave her however a few games of fetch has her calmed down. Penelope absolutely loves toys and loves finding new ones to take back to her with her. Sadly due to having no socialising Penelope is not good with other dogs we are hopeful that in time with the correct training she would eventually play well with dogs as we think she would enjoy this however we can not say for certain as we don’t know what happened during her puppy years. Penelope would love an active adult only home with no children, dogs or cats. As she has so much energy to burn and would need someone who can put in the time for her.

Simon

Gender/Age: Male 6yrs
Breed: Sharpei
Colour: Tan

Don’t let Simon’s grumpy face fool you he is a very happy boy who loves nothing more than investigating smells on his walks by smooshing his chops into everything. He is housetrained and loves a big comfy bed to lounge in the sun in or a bed by the window so he can be nosy all day. He can be vocal with some dogs so would benefit from gentle socialising in time and would need to be the only pet in the home. He is not good with cats or any other small animals. He will randomly play with toys and will chase a football a few times before getting distracted by a smell that he has to wee on. Simon does have some of the Sharpei quirks and can be an independent dog at times, wanting affection on his own terms, so would need an owner to understand the characteristics of his breed. Adult only home.

Olivia

Gender/Age: Female, 2yrs
Breed: Frenchie
Colour: Seal & Tan

It's been over a year since miss Olivia came into us from the Welsh pound. We had no history on her and so we've had to figure out her personality as we went. Olivia truly is a lovely girl and wants nothing more than having a good bum scratch and chasing leaves in the wind. Unfortunately, she has some behavioural problems which has made her difficult to rehome. Olivia will fixate on toys and food (and sometimes even her own sick) and she will guard. When she is in this mindset she cannot be reasoned with and no matter how much she loves you, in that moment nothing is more important than the object she is guarding. Due to this behaviour we are only looking for an EXPERIENCED ADULT ONLY home where she can be the only pet within the property. She cannot live with children.

Rolo

Gender/Age: Male 4yrs
Breed: Terrier
Colour: Black & tan
Location: Edenbridge

Rolo is a very busy boy. He loves to chase anything that moves and will do this all day. He loves his walks and stops to smell everything. He loves to get snug in his bed and he buries himself under his covers when he sleeps. Rolo is very affectionate and tries to jump on your lap for a cuddle. He loves his toys and will find his favourite and run about with it in his mouth. He is a very active boy so needs lots of exercise.

Rolo has a very high prey drive and try to chase everything. He can get himself very worked up over this and needs a very understanding owner to help him calm down. Rolo is also very reactive to other dogs and can redirect so will need an experienced owner. We think that Rolo would love lots of secure land where he can safely explore and with a very patient and understanding owner who can appreciate Rolo’s needs and give him all the love he deserves. He must be the only pet in an adult only home.

Barker

Barker is another one of our lovely ex racers we have here at New Romney. Barker is a really happy boy who loves long walks and having lots of cuddles. He can get so excited that he just can't control himself and will do lots of zoomies. At his core Barker is a sweet, loving dog who just wants a nice sofa to cuddle up on with his new forever people. Mitch

Gender/Age: Male 2-3yrs
Breed: Pocket bully
Colour: Tri Colour

Mitch came to us from the Welsh pound due to a decline in his owners health. Mitch was a very timid boy at first and would grumble whilst running away from you in his kennel due to fear. He has now come out of his shell and he has found his love in toys. His favourite at the minute are balls! He will play all day, not that the toys last that long. Mitch has been fearful of other dogs whilst being with us so will need very slow socialising with other dogs and to be the only pet in the home for now. As Mitch can be fearful of the world we are suggesting an adult only home to help him navigate a new home life, with patient and understanding owners who can give him space and time to settle without pushing his boundaries. Mitch loves his walks but can be stubborn at times wanting to get back so he can continue playing.

Cleo

Gender/Age: Female 9 years old
Breed: Husky
Colour: Choc & cream
Location: Edenbridge

Cleo came into us as her owners have no time for her anymore. Cleo is finding being back in the kennel environment hard, but is adjusting slowly. Cleo is a typical husky and loves to be outside no matter what the weather. She loves to play with new toys especially squeaky stuffed toys and rope toys. Cleo is very reactive to other dogs and is advised to walk with a muzzle, which she wears well, and must go to a pet free house with an owner who is understanding of this behaviour. Experience with the breed is preferred as Cleo can be husky vocal when she wants something. Cleo needs a very understanding and patient adult only home, with owners who have the knowledge and time to spend helping her with her difficulties.

Hammer

Gender/Age: Male 3yrs
Breed: Greyhound
Colour: Light Brindle
Location: Edenbridge

Hammer is a happy chap, he loves laying on a comfy bed in the sun and watching the world go by. He loves to have a cuddle and will stop mid walk for a lean and some affection. Hammer has had a reoccurring corn that had stopped him from wanting to go for walks at the time and it has taken a while for us to encourage him to walk now that the corn has been removed and it has healed. He loves a squeaky toy and will chuck it around his kennel often laying on his side and using his feet to help throw it around, then diving on it again. Hammer is an ex-racer and loves to chase wildlife so we would recommend him being walked on a muzzle. He is used to being around dogs his size but can not be homed with small fluffy dogs, cats or small animals. Hammer loves his food and will let you know if you are late feeding him. He has never lived in a home environment before so will need a kind loving owner to show him what it is to be a pet.

Lexi

Gender/Age: Female 7yrs
Breed: Greyhound
Location: New Romney

Lexi is a very sweet, gentle girl who loves a fuss. Sadly, Lexi is epileptic so is on ongoing medication. She would love a nice calm home where she get lots of love and attention. She is Okay with other dogs, but as with most sight Hounds, no cats or small animals.

Danny Boy

Gender/Age: Male 10years
Breed: Scottie/Carne X
Colour: Black
Location: Edenbridge

Danny Boy is a lovely boy once he knows you, he has to have a female owner on a one to one basis, this is all due to him being mistreated. Unfortunately this poor sad little lad, through no fault of his own was kicked and abused in his previous home, living day after day in constant fear, hiding and cowling away from his owner.

This is a very sad case due Danny Boy’s previous male owner who was sadly suffering with-Alzheimers and didn’t realise what he was inflicting on his once best friend.

Please therefore understand why our darling sad, confused, untrustworthy, frightened little Danny boy can be unpredictable towards men, and is quite nervous when first meeting you and needs to settle in slowly. Is there someone out there that can reassure him, give back the love he once knew, to enable him to trust that once again, like the song above will there ever be any pipes a calling for our Danny Boy?????? Or does he have to continue to hope, dream, wish for someone to call his name.

Look into those eyes, see his pain, reach out to him, give him a chance, give him time to trust you, give him back his life, give him the confidence, patience and love that he needs, LOVE that we all need. I know the right person is out there, make our Danny Boy’s wish come true, a loving home this Christmas, that day and every other one there on, FIND HIM A HOME PLEASE.

MORE INFORMATION YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT OUR BOY For those of you that feel you can give our little lad the right home, you would have to visit him on a regular basis, over weeks, even maybe months for him to get used to you and to start to trust you, so this is something that must be considered.

Danny is ideally looking for a quiet home, with a female that does not have regular visitors, with NO CHILDREN, MEN OR OTHER PETS. Danny needs to be his on boss, not be confronted by things or over stimulated or trying to teach him. Danny I would say at the moment, but who knows in the future, is currently not a companion pet, and would not understand or want loads of cuddles or fuss. Like I say he might be the most adorable companion, but this would take time.

Consideration must be taken when out with Danny, due to his fear of people, especially men, you would need to keep a distance from people and dogs whilst walking our Danny boy.
