Melon

Melon is a sweet girl who has recently come from the Welsh pound so we have no history on her. She seems super friendly and desperate for a fuss but she's just too nervous to take that final step. She's looking for a quiet home where she will be given the time to come out of her shell and let out the lively dog we know she can be. As we have no history on Melon she cannot be rehomed with young children.

Tia

Tia came to us in a sorry state and is looking for a lot of TLC. She is blind and is hard of hearing. Tia is looking for a nice quiet retirement home where she can get all the love she craves and deserves. Big boisterous boy Frank can be a little weary at first but once he knows you he is super affectionate. He is still young so needs plenty of training and socialising. Frank is looking for a very active home with someone who has the time and patience for him.

John

Happy boy Simon came to us from the Welsh pound. He is friendly and loves his walks. Due to his breed he would benefit from an experienced sharpei owner due to their different quirks. Come and meet him at our Edenbridge centre.

Hammer

Hammer is a loving boy, who is very puppy like. He is full of beans and loves to do his zoomies. He is good with bigger dogs, but must be muzzled around small furries.

Minx

Minx seems a very lively, excitable girl who loves fuss and attention. She is very playful and will need an active home and owner. Sadly she came to us with no history but she seems ok with other dogs.

Jess

Jess is a very sweet girl but being a pup still is also very bouncy and strong on lead. Jess needs an active home and lots of training. She is Okaywith other dogs and could be homed with older children.

Rita

Rita is a super sweet lady who loves nothing more than a cuddle. Unlike our other ex-racing greyhounds, Rita has lived in a home and has started to figure out the strange human world. She has been around young children before and could potentially live with calmer, sensible children. She is sociable with other sighthounds, and getting used to other breeds although does sometimes find small dogs a little scary still, she could potentially live with another greyhound. She isn't overly keen on big walks, happy with a quick potter around, so would like a home with a good sized secure garden where she can exercise of her own accord. Rocky

Rocky is a beautiful natured boy who has so much love to give. Sadly he got brought back to Last chance due to his owner having to move. He is big and boisterous so needs someone who is able to manage him. He loves playing with other dogs and his tennis balls. Goober

Goober came to us from the Welsh pound so no history is known prior to coming in to us. He is full of beans and is really enjoying his walks here with us. He will need an active home. He will need slow socialising with other dogs and needs to be the only pet in the home.

Kilo

Kilo is a big boisterous chap who is full of beans and just loves to play. He loves to chase balls and run around squeaking toys in his mouth. He is affectionate but doesn’t know his size and will often bowl into you. He is excited to see other dogs but needs socialising. He is strong on the lead so needs an owner who can train him and mange him for walks.

Luna

Luna was originally handed in to our New Romney centre with puppies as her owners housing situation changed. Since then, all her puppies have found loving homes but Luna is still sadly looking for her forever home. When Luna first came in, she was very wary of men and had so much energy to burn that she would become very frustrated. Luna is now at our Edenbridge centre and has gotten used the daily routines and has calmed right down. She can still be wary of new men she has not met before but has come to like many male members of staff and volunteers. Luna is ok with other dogs but doesn't like dogs that are to boisterous or bouncy so must be the only pet in the home. Luna loves her walks but will need further lead training as she gets very excited and can pull. Luna did not seem to know what a love was and at first used to freeze when receiving attention. She now will jump up at her door every time you get her out for a quick cuddle and a fuss. Luna will make a lovely pet for someone who has the time and patience to help with further training and socialising. No small animals or children.

Sienna

Sienna came to us from the racing kennels and may have never lived in a loving home before, so will need an understanding and patient owner. Since being with us Sienna has found out what toys are and just absolutely loves throwing them to herself in her kennel. She has not quite worked out how to fetch a ball yet though but does love to chase them. Sienna has only been around other greyhounds so can not be homed with smaller dogs or any small animals.

Buddy

Buddy came to us not looking his best, he was covered in painful mats that hurt him so much he hated being touched. Now he's had a trim and he's a different dog! He can be very sweet and will come up for attention but likes it on his terms. He has developed a habit of nipping at the ankles as well so will need an adult only home and one that has experience dealing with dogs with slight behavioural issues.

Tito

Hello I am Tito. I am a very loving dog, with the people I trust. I arrived at the New Romney rescue many years ago from a Welsh pound, no one knows my early previous history, but from my behaviour and the marks on my body, my friends at Last chance know I wasn't treated very nicely. Sometimes I can get anxious and see hands as a threat, I also struggle being out of my routine. One staff member says she is blessed to have my trust, I snuggle up for a fuss, offer her cuddles, demand a tummy tickle (poking my feet in her face) and enjoy her company on walks and in my kennel, but I admit, I do get jealous if anyone else is around us - even when I like the other people! I do get nervous around new people and situations, which sometimes means I can be a bit snappy. I am told I'm handsome and also super fit for my age, I can jump onto the picnic tables in our grounds in just one leap. I will run around the grounds chasing the wild rabbits and squirrels, but birds are my real nemesis, if only I could climb trees!!! I also love sunbathing on the grass and playing catch with my big ball, but I prefer the right company over treats and games and don't like to be left on my own. I am definitely not keen on walks in the rain or the cold! Due to my past experiences (and from the information my friends at Last Chance have gathered on my previous adoptions), I'm told I need a very special and experienced, single, adult only home, with no other animals, I may prefer a female human. Once I form a strong bond with you and feel safe, I will become your best friend, but this also means I will not want to share you, I have waited so long for you I want you all to myself!! I need a quiet home, with a secure garden, very rare visitors and definitely no children visiting! It would be best if you have a very structured routine that I could fit in to. I will need multiple visits from any potential adopter, so we can get used to each other. Doug

Doug is one of our lovely ex-racers who is looking to enjoy his retirement. He's a sweet boy but has a high prey drive so cannot be rehomed with cats, small animals or small dogs. As an ex racer he will also need to be muzzled when out on walks.

Alfie and Tilly

Gender/Age: Male 8 years, Female 7 years
Breed: Dacshund and Pug
Colour: Black/brown and Thorn

Alfie and Tilly are an older pair looking for a nice, understanding home where they can live together. They are really friendly and have been good with staff and volunteers and wanting lots of cuddles. While they are fine sharing a space together (including beds and toys) Alfie can get a tiny bit possessive over his food around Tilly and so they will need to be fed separately.

Brandy

Breed: Lurcher x Irish wolfhound

Brandy is a very large, bouncy boy who needs a lot of training. He came from our Welsh pound with no history so we are looking for an adult only home. Due to Brandy's size and age he can be very strong and can get carried away while playing so he needs someone who is willing to take their time with him and teach him the basics. Due to his breed he has a high prey drive and so he cannot live with small animals and/or cats.

Olivia

Olivia is sweet and affectionate on her own terms. She is very lively and playful, but can be possesive and will guard things so needs an experienced, adult only home with no other animals.

Shadow

Gender/Age: Female 9 mths
Breed: Labrador x
Colour: Black & white

Shadow is a super playful girl with lots of love to give. She can be extremely wary of strangers so will need someone who is willing to put in the time and effort with her and come in multiple times to meet her. However once she knows you she's very sweet. Shadow's size and young age means that she will require training and socialisation classes to help her adjust to life outside a kennel. She came in from our Welsh pound and cannot live with any children so we are looking for an adult only household with no visiting children.

Chas

Molly

Our amazing Molly-Moo (or one of the many other nicknames she has gained) is still waiting for her dream home. She was originally a stray so we know little about her life before Last Chance, however having been with us for some months now, we know she will be an amazing addition to someone's life. She is a silly, lovable lady who craves a good fuss just as much as she does a tennis ball, when she arrived she was considerably overweight, however with a little less munching, and a little more charging after a ball, she is now sleek, slender and frankly, stunning! She is spending a lot of time with one of our amazing volunteers who says she is picking up training very easily and has been showing off her newly learned patience. Molly isn't great with most dogs and will bark when she is out, she would benefit from further training to help with this. She can also be very strong on the lead when she wants to be so will need an owner who is physically strong enough to hold her while she learns she doesn't need to pull. As we don't know Molly's background, she would not be able to live with children and would prefer a home without any other pets. Mallow

Mallow is a very energetic dog. He needs a lot of physical and mental stimulation. He can be very vocal in the house and on walks so needs a rural home with little distractions. Once he is calm, he can be very cuddly on the sofa and playful. He loves to play with toys, especially balls, the squeakier the better!! He had a very high prey drive so we advise keeping him on the lead. He must be the only dog with no other animals in the home. He needs an adult only home with someone used to bouncy dogs. Mallow will make a wonderful companion to someone who has the time and patience to put into his training and care.

Buster

Buster is a typically stubborn bulldog. He loves nothing more his big comfy bed, getting under the covers and lots of treats. He can be reluctant to walk in an any adverse weather but likes a stroll at his own pace wherever he wants to go. Buster is a nosey dog and loves coming through our office to sniff new smells and helping to feed the office fish. He will often steal staffs leads and carry his bowl to his bed where Buster can become protective over this and any long-lasting treats. He loves a butt scratch and will roll in long grass for you to scratch his tummy and can be quite affectionate on his own terms. Buster is not short on character but will need an experienced owner. He must go to a male one to one home as Buster loves men. He does not like people coming in to his home so will need to be kept separate. Pinky & Perky

Pinky and perky came back into our centre as their owners were unable to keep them. They are both full of character! They both love their toys and will play for hours. Perky loves to find the biggest toy she can fit in her mouth and carry it round with her. Pinky loves to chase tennis balls. Pinky has recently undergone a spinal operation which she has recovered from so well that she has amazed the vets. They both love attention and will jump on your lap and roll over for a scratch. They weren’t socialised when they were younger and can be protective of their owners from people and other dogs so need someone who has experience with this. They must be the only pets in an adult only home. Although they can be wary at first once they know you they are your best friend. And will make the most wonderful and entertaining pets

Gunner

Gender/Age: Male 5yrs

Gunner is a complex boy. He can be affectionate on his own terms and likes a gentle fuss. He loves his food and will sit instantly when you mention a treat. Gunner is very active and loves his walks. Like a typical spaniel he loves to smell everything. Gunner can be reactive to dogs and needs lots of very gentle socialising in time. He must be the only pet in an adult only home. Gunner needs an owner who understands that he can get very quickly overwhelmed and understands his boundaries and has the patience needed for him to learn to trust you.

Buddy

Breed: Bulldog x Staffie

Buddy is a gorgeous boy looking for a very particular home. Buddy needs to be rehomed to someone who lives on their own - no children or other pets- that has experience with dogs with some behavioural trust issues. It would need to be a quiet home with someone who does not’t have many visitors. He gets very possessive and protective of his owner and doesn't want any harm to come to them. He absolutely LOVES his food and will do anything for a nice treat so this is a way to win over his trust and to help build a bond. He loves to rough play and gets very excited when you hype him up to play. Buddy has a lot of love to give, he loves having cuddles on the sofa and will happily snooze by your side when you're watching TV. In time Buddy will make a wonderful companion for the perfect person who is willing to put some time and effort into helping him overcome his fears.

Bill

Gender/Age: Male 18mths
Breed: Frenchie

Bill is a lovely boy once he knows you, but can be a little fearful at first and will snap when feeling threatened but once he knows and trusts you he is fine. Bill needs a one to one adult home with no children visiting, as he does bond with one person very well. Bill does enjoy a fuss but on his terms he's not keen on being over fussed. He does like to guard his toys and bones so he has to be left alone whilst he has these. He is good with most dogs when out but tends to show a dislike to black dogs particularly because of this we are looking for him to be the only pet in the home.

Dancer

Colour: Black and Tan

Dancer came to us from a Welsh pound. We believe he was used as a farm dog as he can be weary of people approaching him on the lead and can nip and he is very traffic reactive. He is a typical ex-working dog who hasn’t adjusted to home life yet so will need an experienced and very understanding owner to help settle him in slowly. He needs an adult only home in a rural setting, where he is the only pet in the home.

Cobi

Gender/Age: male, 6years
Breed: Jack Russell
Colour: tan and white

Cobi is a very happy dog when he feels safe, but when he feels scared or frightened he will lash out and will bite if given the chance. So is best left alone when he goes into his scared state, this usually occurs when he hears loud bangs. When he knows you he can be very affectionate and loves to sit on your head looking out the window. We are looking for a very understanding one-person adult home for Cobi with no children visiting please and no other pets. Cobi would need to go to someone who has experience dealing with JRT as Cobi needs a special person who can give him the time and patience he requires. Danny Boy

Danny Boy is a lovely boy once he knows you, he has to have a female owner on a one to one basis, this is all due to him being mistreated. Unfortunately this poor sad little lad, through no fault of his own was kicked and abused in his previous home, living day after day in constant fear, hiding and cowling away from his owner.

This is a very sad case due Danny Boy’s previous male owner who was sadly suffering with-Alzheimers and didn’t realise what he was inflicting on his once best friend.

Please therefore understand why our darling sad, confused, untrustworthy, frightened little Danny boy can be unpredictable towards men, and is quite nervous when first meeting you and needs to settle in slowly. Is there someone out there that can reassure him, give back the love he once knew, to enable him to trust that once again, like the song above will there ever be any pipes a calling for our Danny Boy?????? Or does he have to continue to hope, dream, wish for someone to call his name.

Look into those eyes, see his pain, reach out to him, give him a chance, give him time to trust you, give him back his life, give him the confidence, patience and love that he needs, LOVE that we all need. I know the right person is out there, make our Danny Boy’s wish come true, a loving home this Christmas, that day and every other one there on, FIND HIM A HOME PLEASE.

MORE INFORMATION YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT OUR BOY For those of you that feel you can give our little lad the right home, you would have to visit him on a regular basis, over weeks, even maybe months for him to get used to you and to start to trust you, so this is something that must be considered.

Danny is ideally looking for a quiet home, with a female that does not have regular visitors, with NO CHILDREN, MEN OR OTHER PETS. Danny needs to be his on boss, not be confronted by things or over stimulated or trying to teach him. Danny I would say at the moment, but who knows in the future, is currently not a companion pet, and would not understand or want loads of cuddles or fuss. Like I say he might be the most adorable companion, but this would take time.

Consideration must be taken when out with Danny, due to his fear of people, especially men, you would need to keep a distance from people and dogs whilst walking our Danny boy.
